Ralph Ware, 79, of Winston-Salem went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1946 to 1948. He worked for Butler Enterprises and then for the Winston-Salem ABC Board, where he worked for 32 years. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Ralph loved people and always enjoyed being around them. All that knew him will remember his sense of humor. He also had a love for animals and enjoyed his many pets over the years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rusty Ware; two daughters, Shelia Lewandowski and husband Brian, of Alta Loma, Calif., and Sonja Berrier and husband David, of Kernersville; and a grandson, Michael Berrier and wife Amy, of Arcadia. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 this evening, Nov. 20, at Salem Funeral Home on South Main Street. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Southside Baptist Church, 401 E. Sprague St., Winston-Salem, NC 27127, or Forsyth Humane Society, 61 Miller Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.

I will always remember his laughter and since of humor he had with us kids growing up. Our yearly beach vacations will be a permanent print in my mind as he made me laugh with his style and confronting words of encouragement. . I always enjoyed being near Ralph at family functions. We were separated by miles though the years, but he will be near and dear to my heart always.

My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead.
I am glad I was able to speak to Ralph before he passed away and that Ralph recognized me when we spoke and called me by my name. I told him I loved him and he was in my prayers.
Rusy, Sonja & Shelia, I hope to see you soon and my thoughts and prayers are with you always

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. I am glad I was able to see you one more time even though it has been many years since we were neighbors in Merriweather.
