Richard Smith Obituary

SMITH CLEMMONS - Mr. Richard "Dick" Azee Smith, 73, of Clemmons, died Saturday, June 9th, 2007, at his home. He was born Feb. 19, 1934, in Forsyth County to Alec and Pattie E. Canter Smith. He was retired from Camel City Laundry and was a member of Gospel Mission Baptist Church in Tobaccoville. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cebond and Elmer; and his wife, Wanda "Tootsie" Hall Smith, who died in 1990. Surviving are his son, Rick Smith of Clemmons; three daughters, Tammy Smith of Winston-Salem, Robin McIntosh and husband Keith of Midway, and Dawn Mitchell of Leicester; two grandchildren, Kristen and Ryan McIntosh; his special family, Debbie Reynolds, Donnie Mitchell, and Ronnie Ragan; a brother, Ray Smith of Clemmons; five sisters, Mae Williams of Statesville, Cora Luper of Clemmons, Mary Jean Rothrock and husband Joe of Tobaccoville, JoAnn McKee and husband Joe of Florence, Ala. and Margaret Todd and husband Linville of Lewisville; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Gospel Mission Baptist Church with Pastor Josh Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 11, at Salem Funeral Home. He was a special husband, dad, son, brother, uncle, friend, and Pepaw. He will be missed. Mr Smith was always so kind to me..I have been Rick's(his son)friend for ten years. It was always good to speak to Mr Smith as he was gentle and caring. Rick, I am so sorry for your loss,and you are in my prayers. My sympathy to your family.

Uncle Dick was my favorite uncle,He always had a smile on his face and made me feel alot better about things after I talked to him. I will miss him very much.
