Walnut Cove - Richard Paul Smith, 78, went home to be with his Lord on January 3, 2025 at Beacon Place Hospice Home.
Richard was born in Forsyth County on June 5, 1946, to the late Will and Lillian Nelson Smith. He was retired from Hanes Brand with seventeen years of service and was a member of Penial Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming, but most of all he loved sitting on his front porch. Richard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by six siblings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Carol Whicker Smith; two children, Amy Hughes, and Ricky Smith (Sabrina Branson); nine grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Scarlett, and Nancy Whitt; two brothers, Robert Smith, and Ervin Smith, as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be a 11 a.m. memorial service held on Friday January 10, 2025 at Penial Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Tim Nelson Officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Penial Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Penial Pentecostal Holiness Church.
