JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. â€" Dr. Robert Glenn Dennis, 79, of Johnson City, Tenn., passed away Feb. 8, 2005. He was born Feb. 5, 1926, in Wilkesboro, N.C. He was the son of Amos Carlton Dennis and Ora Kennedy Dennis, and husband of the late Anne Hughes Dennis. Dr. Dennis was a family-practice physician, whose associate was the late Cowan Moss (Dennis and Moss Family Physicians), and more recently of First Choice Medical Group, from which he retired in 1999. He was a graduate of Appalachian State University and Wake Forest University, and received a Doctor of Medicine from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University. Dr. Dennis completed a rotating internship at Greenville, S.C., General Hospital. He was a member and past secretary of the Washington-Carter-Unicoi County Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, John Sevier Chapter of Family Physicians, Tennessee Medical Association, Charter Fellow of American Academy of Family Physicians and Diplomate American Board of Family Practice. Dr. Dennis was an associate professor at the department of family practice at East Tennessee State University. Among his many contributions to the medical community, was his dedication to the development of the Residency Program. He was a dedicated member of First United Methodist Church and a member of Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dennis; his son, Robert Glenn Dennis Jr. of Garner, N.C.; his daughters, Annette and her husband Robert Keller of Atlanta, Elizabeth and her husband, Thomas Alexander of Charleston, S.C., Katherine and her husband Thomas Overton of Sweetwater, Tenn.; stepsons, Mark Andrew Eubanks and his wife Laura of Atlanta and Michael Thomas Eubanks (deceased) and his wife Catherine Eubanks of Downers Grove, Ill.; his grandchildren, Katherine, Benjamin and Elizabeth Ann Keller, Thomas Williams Alexander, Thomas Jackson, Robert Mason and James Dennis Overton; and stepgrandchildren, Andrew and Colton Eubanks, and Emily and Samantha Eubanks. Also surviving is a brother, James Albert Dennis and his wife Catherine; his sister, Hilda Buntin; and his sisters-in-law, Helen Hughes Blum and Jeanette Hughes Heller. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at First United Methodist Church, with service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church’s Capital Campaign Fund â€" the Music Department (Line item 22); or the Youth Department, 900 Spring St., Johnson City, TN 37601.
