SELF ASHEBORO - Sara Smith "Sally" Self, age 76, of 1021 Etworth Drive, Arbor Acres, Winston-Salem died Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 505 Mountain Road, Asheboro with Rev. Dr. Everett Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro. There will be a reception at the church fellowship hall following the interment. Mrs. Self was a lifelong resident of Asheboro, was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd and the Randolph Arts Guild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher C. "Colonel" Smith and Blanche Shelton Smith and her husband Luther Winborne Self. After her husband' s death, Mrs. Self set-up the Luther W. Self Fellowship at the UNC-G Department of Education for Doctorate students in his memory. She is survived by her son, Smith Winborne Self and his wife Tina Jeanette Yow-Self of Winston-Salem, NC; granddaughter, Rebekah Medea Self; and cousin, Bob Shelton of Greensboro, NC. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be made to the Luther W.
