Shirley was a vibrant and forward looking person even in our high school years. We worked together on the high school year book our senior year. She took some bold steps that have endured: She led the first year book for our high school to be printed by lithography rather than engraved. Today, that may not sound like much, but then it was almost unheard of. She also was editor over the first color photo be in our school's year book.
In addition to being all that, she was a really kind person to everyone around her. I know that she will be missed while memory of her are cherished.

There are no words to describe the loss we all are feeling. There are so many wonderful memories that I have of Shirley. She wasn't just loved by me, but also by my family. She's been there for me in good times and sad times but always with something inspirational to comfort me. She knew who to communicate with more than just words. She can give you a look, a smile, a laughter. She also had a way of making sure that whatever you may have given her or done for her was absolutely the most wonderful thing. I know that she is home now and healed.
