Ted Christian Ulrich of Winston Salem left this life on May 6, 2025. Born in W-S to parents Max Eugene Ulrich and Jeanne DeFrance Bergvall Ulrich. Ted spent most of his life in Winston-Salem, with the exception of six years in Doraville, Georgia, before returning home in 1969.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jeannie Griffith Ulrich; his sister, Karen DeFrance Ulrich Murphy (Bob); his brother, Mark Alan Ulrich (Joanne); and his sons: Christian O'Neal Ulrich, Drew Eugene Ulrich (Kelly Marie Heath), and Shawn Alex Ulrich (Marie Stefanie Ulrich). He also leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Lennar Van Ulrich and Mia Jeanne Ulrich.

Ted attended RJ Reynolds High School (class of 1972). A lifelong music lover and audiophile, he worked at Harmony House and maintained a deep connection to audio equipment throughout his life. He later worked in the sheet metal shop at R J Reynolds and at the Bailey Power Plant. After leaving Reynolds, Ted found joy and purpose in craftsmanship and woodworking-there was little he couldn't build or fix once he set his mind to it.

A loving and devoted father, Ted poured his time, care, and creativity into his children's lives. He supported his boys wholeheartedly, nurturing their interests, sharing his own passions, and teaching them by example. From Matchbox car tracks and treehouses to skateboard ramps, car projects, and home remodels, Ted was always building-sometimes for them, often with them, and always behind them as their skills and independence grew. The things he created weren't just projects-they were gifts that brought joy to his family and left a lasting mark on the community.

Ted touched the lives of many through his involvement with social groups including Jonestown Swim Club, Boy Scout Troop 712, Jonestown Civic Club, and RTR Motorsports. Often behind the grill or in the kitchen, Ted loved cooking and sharing food with others.

A memorial service will be held at St Timothy's Episcopal Church (2575 Parkway Dr in Winston-Salem) on May 23, at 2 p.m., with a celebration downstairs in the parlor to follow.
