LEXINGTON - Mrs. Thelma Hunter Wood Vinson, 94, of Lexington passed away Monday, March 22, 2004, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born May 18, 1909, in Sampson County to Gaston A. and Rene Jernigan Wood. Mrs. Vinson formerly attended Highland Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Paul Francis Vinson Sr., in 1983. Surviving are a son, Paul F. Vinson Jr. and wife Dallie of Lexington; a grandson, Bobby Vinson and wife Janet of Lexington; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Vinson and Katlin Vinson, both of Lexington; a half sister, Sue Hairr and husband Ivy of Roseboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. Tim Gammons and the Rev. Zeno Groce officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour before the service Wednesday.
