Thomas Kennedy Obituary

Mr. Thomas "Sean" Kennedy, 57, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away in the early morning of February 4, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center. Sean was born on May 20, 1967, in Rutherford, County to Mr. Clyde T. Kennedy and Mrs. Ona Donham Kennedy. Growing up, his father served in the North Carolina State Highway Patrol as a Trooper, Sean admired him for his loyalty, integrity, and professionalism. Sean served as a police officer for the Winston-Salem Police Department for three years, and in 1993, he applied for the North Carolina State Highway Patrol 91st Basic School and began to follow in his fathers' footsteps. Those who knew Sean and worked amongst him, would say he was highly dedicated to his position as a State Trooper as served his Forsyth and Davie communities with honor. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to help anyone no matter the circumstance. Sean retired in 2017 with the rank of Master Trooper with 28 total years of Law Enforcement. While his career was a major part of his life, nothing was more important to Sean than his family. He truly loved deeply and cherished all the memories with them. After retirement, Sean enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family, and being outdoors. In addition to his mother, Mr. Kennedy is survived by his wife, Joyce Kennedy; two daughters, Carla Richards (Ben) and Fei Vargas; a son, Coy Alimururng (Melissa); and two grandsons, Luke and Chase. He was preceded in passing by his father, Clyde T. Kennedy.
A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Rick Speas officiating. Full honors provided by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol Honor Guard will be rendered. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Sean will always be remembered for his service to our State and to our communities. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is honored to serve the family of Mr. Kennedy during this time.
