Timothy Charles "Tim" McGee

Timothy McGee Obituary

McGEE KING - Timothy "Tim" Charles McGee went peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home on Friday, November 13, 2009 while surrounded by family and friends after a 6 year battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Forsyth County to Numa E. McGee and Angeline Griffin McGee. Tim graduated from North Forsyth High School in 1966 and attended Drone Business College. During his childhood, he and his family were devout members of the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Rural Hall, where he met the love of his life, Vera Lynn Shouse. After a 1 ½ year romance, they exchanged vows at his grandparents house in Rural Hall. He worshiped his wife, "Doll Baby" and a day never passed without him telling his "Doll Baby" how much he loved her and how blessed he was for getting the 'Cream of the Crop' as a wife. During their 42 year marriage, they were blessed with two sons, Todd and Travis. Later in life, Tim became a member of Calvary Baptist Church in King; however, by this time he had started to show the affects of his Alzheimer's. Preceding him in death are his father; brother, Ed McGee; and most recently, his mother. Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Vera; son, Todd and wife, Cindy of King; son, Travis of Livingston, TX; grandchildren, Dalton and Kacie, the lights of his life; two special nieces, Tara Campbell and Petra Baccus, who he thought of as 'the daughters he never had'; and three special great-nieces, Zoe, Raegan and Kaya. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law, each of whom he had an excellent relationship and had special places in his heart. Tim also had several aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends. A Funeral Service will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, November 16 at Calvary Baptist Church in King with Pastor Kevin Broyhill and Pastor Scott Vernon officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, November 15 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the entire McGee family, especially Vera, Todd, and Travis. I know in particular from conversations how much Travis loved and felt for his father as well as for Vera and the family. I can only hope I'm loved as much and cared about as much when my time comes. Tim was a fortunate man of faith with a wonderful family and lived a good life. He can now reap his reward.
