Poplin Tom

Aug 28, 1947 - Oct 2, 2025

Tom Poplin of Yadkin County and of Elkin died at his home on the 2nd of October, 2025. His death was hastened by a neurological condition caused by exposure to Agent Orange while serving in combat with the 101st Airborne Division in the Republic of Vietnam in 1968-1969. His parents were Alta Wagoner Poplin and James Hazel Poplin of Bryant Road in Boonville, NC. He is survived by his wife Jilda, and his children: Hiram (Savannah), Walter (Celena), Winston (Amber), George, Jont, Jesse (Joanne), Tracy (Chris) Glocheau; as well as his five grandchildren and his brother Gary (Billie) and their children Cole and Layne (Dylan Hutzler). His wishes are being honored by body donation; and at his request there will be no service. The family expresses gratitude to Pruitt Hospice and Bayada Nursing for the care during his final days.
