BENSON WINSTON-SALEM Virginia Mellison McLaughlin Benson Aug. 18, 1920 - Jan. 19, 2013 Mrs. Virginia Mellison McLaughlin Benson, 92, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Benson was born on August 18, 1920 in West Virginia to William Harrison McLaughlin and Flora Mae King McLaughlin. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Leslie Benson, her parents, one son, James Roy Benson and all of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Warner of Winston-Salem; one son, Thomas Benson (Janet) of Florida; three grandchildren, Steven Benson, Sr. (Marisol) of Washington, Susan Barajas (Manuel) of Winston-Salem, andKristi Goodwin (Edward) of Winston-Salem; and seven great-grandchildren, Cedrick, Briley, Steven, Jr., Elyza, Kenneth (K.J.), Alyssa, and Alex. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Don Hawkins officiating. Burial willfollow at Westlawn Gardensof Memory in Clemmons,NC. The family will receivefriends one hour prior to theservice at Hayworth-MillerSilas Creek Chapel.
