Wilson Parker Obituary

BOONVILLE - Mr. Wilson Tony Parker, 56, of U.S. Highway 67, our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away unexpectedly while working in Louisiana with Siemens Power Corp. as a field service technician. He was born March 22, 1950, in Surry County to Anthony Wilson "Tony" Parker and Vonnie Vestal Hicks. Wilson was a graduate of Winston-Salem Barber School, but was an employee of Siemens Power Corp. with 35 years of service. He was a faithful and devoted member of Charity Baptist Church, an avid gardener and enjoyed playing golf or working with his antique cars. His true love and devotion was to his family and friends. Regardless of how busy he may have been with work, he was always able to find time for his family or friends if they were in the need of help. Wilson was preceded in death by his father, and two stepfathers, Irvin Hicks and Jesse W. Pardue Sr. Surviving are his beloved wife of 38 years, Shelia Christine "Chris" Parker, of the home; two daughters, Lora Nance of Lexington and April (Kent) Wooten of Boonville; three grandchildren, who truly adored him, Bridget Nance, Katlyn Wooten and Chandler Wooten; his mother of Boonville; a sister, Norma (David) Shore of Boonville; his stepmother, Linda Parker; several stepbrothers; stepsisters, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including two very special friends, Junior and Mary Lois Miller of Boonville. His funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Charity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Driver, the Rev. Cecil Wetherholt and the Rev. Ralph Stanley officiating. He will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Pallbearers for the service will be the deacons of Charity Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Charity Baptist Church Building Fund, 1500 Charity Church Road, Boonville, NC 27011. Chris would like to thank all the family, friends and members of Charity Baptist Church Family, for all the prayers and support given to her and their children during this difficult time.

I had the great pleasure of knowing Wilson and will always remember him popping in the office in his shorts and tennis shoes to drop off his expenses and make sure all was OK. Every thing with a smile. He will be missed.

Dear Family and Friends of Wilson -
I had the fortune to work with Wilson both at the Winston-Salem plant and years later at CTSS. He was always a very friendly and upbeat person who had a true southern gentleman aspect about him. I'm sure he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
My thoughts are prayers are with you.

To the Parker family and friends. Please know that I will truly miss Wilson. His great attitude and sense of humor were always welcome on so many outages. During slow times we often exchanged stories about our kids and grand kids. May the Lord bless you and ease the pain during these days of sorrow.

Respectfully,

Dear Christine and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I met Christine with Wilson at several of our employee meetings and it struck me that they seemed to be one of those couples who were still very much in love after so many years of marriage. Wilson will be missed by all of us.

Chris and family,
I remember when Jerry and I had just moved into our new home and you and Wilson came over so eager to lend a hand. Wilson had to show us how to put up curtain rods because it was obvious that we did not know what we were doing. That's the kind of wonderful man he was, always helpful and loving. We will miss him and want you to know that we love you. I know God has his arms around you all during this time.

Chris, Lora, April and Family,
I always have known Wilson but my fondest memory is when he coached our softball team that went to Fayettville for a tournament. Kendra and I stayed with you guys and we were all so aggrevated by those people with the cow bells. He was always such a nice person. He always spoke to me when I would see him over at Aprils house. You all are in my prayers that God will help you through this difficult time in your lives.

I only saw Wilson once when I was visiting Linda Parker. We went to his house and I felt like I knew him and his family as they were so warm and friendly to me. I remember he let Linda drive his car as there was problem with her car. From the moment I met him, I could see that he was a warm and caring person like his father, Tony.
The Parker family is in my thoughts and prayers.
In Christian Love, Jean Rien

Vonnie,
I was so sorry to read of the death of Wilson, but, since I remember him only as a little boy, I was also gratified to read of his productive and happy life. I remember him getting on the bus in the mornings always with a little smile. He must have kept it all his life.

Of all your losses, I know this loss of a child must be especially hard. I pray that God will comfort you and keep you in his care now and in the days to come. Glenna Hicks
