BARABOO - Dan Virgil Parsons, age 63, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, September 30, 2024.
Dan was born June 7, 1961 in Baraboo, to Virgil and Genevieve (Raschein) Parsons. Dan was united in marriage to Elaine Braaten on July 30, 1982, in Kalispell, MT.
Dan lived his entire life in Baraboo operating the family dairy farm on Terrytown Road. Most recently he formed Parsons Farms LLC with his son, Michael. Dan had a passion for farming and was proud to raise his four children on the farm.
He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and traveling with his family.
Dan always had a big smile and a gentle way. He had a great love for his grandchildren. He was a humble man with a servant's heart to help others. He was true to his Christian beliefs and trusted by all those around him. Dan, our gentle giant, will be remembered for his strong love for God and his thankful spirit.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, of Baraboo; four children: Danelle (Jeremy) Nelson of Wichita, Kan., Michael (Stacy) of Baraboo, Angela (Tytus) Myron of Fargo, N.D. and Travis (Lily) of Sacramento, Calif.; five grandchildren: Monty and Malcolm Nelson, Addilyn and George Parsons, and Archie Myron. Also survived by four sisters: Irene Timm, Kay (Gerry) Thompson, Joy (Dale) Nachtigal, and Ann (Brent) Newman; uncle, Lauren (Karren) Raschein; and aunt, Evelyn Rucker; many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Funeral Services will be held at the Sauk County Fairgrounds on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 11 a.m. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Redlin-Ertz Funeral Home from 4 until 7 p.m. as well as at the Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Burial will be held at the Sauk Prairie Cemetery in Prairie du Sac on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
