James Daniels Obituary

James "Jim" L. Daniels

March 18, 1939 - Aug. 9, 2024

BEAVER DAM - James "Jim" L. Daniels, 85, of Beaver Dam, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 9, 2024 at his home with his family by his side.

A visitation for Jim will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until noon at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at Noon with Father Will Arnold and Father Thomas Naidu as Celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

Jim was born on March 18, 1939 at the home of his parents, Lloyd A. and Mary (Huebel) Daniels at 304 E. Burnett St., Beaver Dam. He attended school in Beaver Dam and at the age of 16 went to work with his dad in the Mason business. He continued to work with his dad until Lloyd retired in 1972. He then became the Owner of J. Daniels and Son Masonry until 2000, when his son, Doug became the owner. Jim continued to work until health prevented him from doing so.

Jim was united in marriage with Joan Irene Cigelske on September 6, 1958 at St. Peter's Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children: Pam, Peggy and Doug and 65 years of good times.

Jim loved to fish, hunt and trap. He also enjoyed watching the ducks and their little ones when they came up to the deck to eat the corn he put out for them. He enjoyed visits from his grand puppy Maggie. He enjoyed his perennial flower garden and huge vegetable garden which he loved to share with others. One of his favorite pastimes was to make things out of wood which he gave to family and friends. Jim and Joan also enjoyed attending their grandchildren and great-grandchildren's events.

Jim is survived by his wife, Joan; his children: Pam Neuman, Peggy (Pete Kaczmarski) Hess and Doug (friend Kelly) Daniels; seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Phil Kilbane) Neuman, Stephanie (Clint) Schuett, Daniel (Tina) Neuman, Jonathan Hess, Kayla (Ben) Schoenwetter, Kyle (Amber) Daniels and Kevin (Hailey) Daniels; also seven much loved great-grandchildren: Alex, Ariel, Levi, Isadora, Charlotte, Wayland and Finley. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Judy Welch; brothers-in-law: Richard (Marlene) Cigelske and Henry Sherman; his grand-puppy Maggie; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Francis and Irene, sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy (Charles) Behm, Katherine (Leo) Zuehlke and Mary Jane Sherman; nephews: Victor, Steven, Mark and John; daughter-in-law, Kim Daniels, brothers-in-law: Jerry Welch, Joseph Cigelske and Robert Cigelske.
