MONTICELLO - Jeffrey "Willie" Wilson, age 60, of Monticello, died at home surrounded by the love of his family on Thursday, October 12, 2023, after a battle with cancer. Willie was born on February 28, 1963 in Dodgeville, the son of Robert and Marge (Nankee) Wilson. He graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1981 and attended Southwest Technical College in Fennimore and later in life, Madison Area Technical College.
Willie worked for Advance Transformer in Platteville, Harley Davidson in Menomonee Falls, John Deere Horicon Works, and most recently Sub-Zero Wolf in Fitchburg.
He was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman. Willie loved hunting, fishing, bowling, his Harley and taking UTV rides.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 26 years, Cheryl Wilson; his daughter, Layla Hummel (Kevin Ward), all of Monticello; five grandchildren: Alaya, Brock, Jaydan, Harpar, and Hank. He is further survived by his brother, Joe (Jules) of Iron Ridge, WI; his sister, Janet Wilson (Tom) of Marion, IA; three step-sisters: Linda, Cheryl, Marilee; two step-brothers: Merlyn, Matt; many cherished nieces and nephews; and many close friends, old and new, who Willie considered family. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Jim Baker; and a brother, Jay.
With deep appreciation and gratitude, we thank our Hospice team, Kelly, Wendy, Joyce, Hillary and Clarice. We will hold you in our hearts always with love and respect.
A celebration of Willie's life will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at Washington Reformation UCC, with Rev. Kelly Volk officiating. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in his name.
