Loraine Roedl Obituary

Loraine Josephine Roedl

SAN ANTONIO, TX-BEAVER DAM, WI – Loraine Josephine (Veling) Roedl, age 96, formerly of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas.

Loraine was born in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, to Lawrence and Amanda (Straeseski) Veling. She was the eldest of six children and spent most of her life in Beaver Dam before relocating to San Antonio to be near her daughter, Mary Beth.

On September 9, 1950, Loraine was united in marriage to Brian Carl Roedl. Together they raised five children, Daniel (Denise) Roedl, James Roedl (deceased), Russ (Sally) Roedl, Peter (Kyla Baker) Roedl, and Mary Beth (Daniel) Eckert.

Loraine's legacy is deeply rooted in the friendships she nurtured over decades. She was a beloved member of a women's club in Beaver Dam that has met monthly for more than 65 years, a remarkable testament to enduring friendship and tradition. She also enjoyed over 50 years as part of a couples' poker group, where her sharp mind and warm spirit made her a favorite at the table.

Her home reflected that same spirit of hospitality, always open to family and friends, with baked goods and lemonade at the ready for anyone who stopped by. Among her favorite visitors were her grandchildren, who brought joy, laughter and love to every visit.

Even after moving to San Antonio later in life, Loraine continued to form meaningful connections. Her warmth, kindness, and easygoing nature helped her build new friendships that enriched her final years.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Nicholas and Benjamin, Nicole and Jenna, Ally, Colton, and Natalie and Sam. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brian; her son, James; her grandchildren, Christopher and Danielle; her brother, Richard Veling; and her sisters, Marjorie Wild and Jean Veling. She is also survived by her brothers, Larry Veling and William (Connie) Veling, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., from 11 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 1 p.m., with Deacon Ed Cody officiating. Inurnment will take place at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
