Marilyn Sytsma, age 76 of Randolph, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at Prairie Ridge Hospital in Columbus.

Marilyn was born on November 16, 1948, daughter of Albert and Jennie (Fisher) Schaalma. She was united in marriage to Charles Sytsma on August 13, 1966, at Second Christian Reformed Church in Randolph. For many years, Marilyn dedicated herself to serving others at the local café in Randolph known as Lucy's, where she waitressed with a smile. After her time at the café, she transitioned to a role as a receptionist at PHE in Randolph until she retired in 2013. Marilyn was passionate about cooking and baking, often expressing her love through the meals she prepared. She enjoyed family vacations, treasuring time spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. Marilyn had a profound love for music. She dedicated many years to playing the organ starting at the age of 13 and continued well into her late 60's. Her musical contributions accompanied numerous weddings, funerals, and church services. As an active member of Second Christian Reformed Church, she participated in the Lydia Society and the Ladies Aid, sharing her time and talents with others.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Charles Sytsma; three children, Lesa (Shawn) Steinhorst, Cheryl (her husband Jason Fauk) Sytsma, and Darren (Tina) Sytsma; four grandchildren, Emily (Justin) Chan, Tyler (fiancé Alexandria Wendler) Steinhorst, Kearsten Sytsma and Tucker Sytsma; sister, Marlene DeYoung; and sister-in-law, Rose Schaalma; in-laws, Catherine (Orval) Wiersma, Darlene (David) Missall, Dennis (Mary) Sytsma and Mindy Sytsma; further survived by her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant siblings; brother, James Schaalma; and brother-in-law, Richard DeYoung.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Second Christian Reformed Church, 332 Tamarack Street, Randolph. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m., at the church with Pastor Keith Buist officiating.
