Mary Jane Miyagawa passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2024. She was born on April 27, 1936, in New Lisbon, WI, the first born of three children to Arthur and Helen Mortensen. She graduated from New Lisbon High in 1954. She was athletic and had a love of music. After graduation, she moved to Madison where she met her husband, David. They married in 1956 and had three children. Mary and David owned and operated Reality 5-0 for many years.

Mary loved the outdoors and gardening. She was active for many years in keeping Unity of Madison's garden blooming and beautiful. She met many of her dear friends at Unity and shared a love of reading, music, and laughter.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, David; son, Michael (Ning); sister, Ruth (Chesmore); brothers-in-law, John Chesmore and Theodore Hysell; parents, Helen and Arthur, and many loved friends.

She is survived by daughters, LeaAnn (Scott) Winter; Lynnett Miyagawa; grandchildren; Melissa (Jonathan) Henderson, Mikaela (Jacob) Nolte, Cassandra (Nick) Onstad-Hawes; David Miyagawa, Nicholas Miyagawa, Kathaleya Miyagawa, Jessica Schmelzer-Miyagawa, and sister Janice Hysell.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:30 pm at Olbrich Botanical Gardens, 3330 Atwood Ave., Madison WI, 53704.

Please consider sharing a short story/memory. There will be snacks, refreshments, and a few of Mary's favorite song sung by Angela Babler.

In lieu of flowers/money please consider donating to Olbrich Botanical Gardens.
