Sharon Breyer
October 3, 1944 - November 23, 2024
BEAVER DAM - Sharon finally got up from her life in a wheelchair the past 10 years and walked home on November 23, 2024. She was born October 3, 1944, to Walter and Mildred (Fehling) Hauptli in Beaver Dam, Wis. Her parents were told 10 years earlier that they would never have any more children, well God's plans are always different from what we expect.
Sharon graduated from Lake Mills and went on to hold various jobs in the restaurant business. From waitressing to cooking and owning four different restaurants/bars in her lifetime, she was the happiest when she was feeding people! In the past five years she enjoyed cooking for the people in her apartment building. She was an amazing euchre, bingo and cribbage player who loved putting together jigsaw puzzles.
To her family she was "Jeanie" who had a nomadic life by moving 40 different times in her 80 years! She was blessed with one child, her daughter, Debbie, whom she always said was her greatest treasure. They had an amazing relationship that truly was a gift from God.
Sharon will be missed dearly by her daughter, Debbie (Rick) Schilling; grandchildren, Amber (Ray) Landis, Colin (Jessica) Schilling; great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Joshua Landis; nephews, Jim (Joyce) Skalitzy, John (Debbie) Skalitzky; Martin's daughter, Cathy (Stuart) Benzine; Martin's granddaughters, Amy Schrafnagel, Tammy (Craig) Wakeman; and other family members and neighbors from Columbus Manor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Breyer in 1994; parents, Walter and Mildred Hauptli; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Al Skalitzky; and Martin's daughter, Linda Madsen. God's blessings to those who went before Sharon to welcome her home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Olivet Congregational UCC, 313 W. Prairie St., Columbus, Wis. A lunch will follow. An Inurnment will be held at 2 p.m., at Okeeg Cemetery in Danville, Wis.
A very special thank you to her in-home/hospice nurse, Patti DeVries, who helped her and Debbie through this last journey. The exceptional care that she gave to Sharon for almost five years will always be remembered and greatly appreciated. Thank you to Cindy Cook, CNA who was dedicated to Sharon's care for many years and the entire staff at Hillside Manor Hospice Unit in Beaver Dam who cared for Sharon in her last three weeks. Your kindness, compassion and commitment to keeping her safe and comfortable was a Godsend!
A heartfelt thank you to Pastor Sandra Schieble for all your prayers and support during this last journey with Sharon. With grace and gratitude, thank you to everyone who prayed for our family during this challenging time. Remember, we are all just walking each other home.
