BEAVER DAM - Sharon A. Pyrek, age 76, of Beaver Dam, died Friday, July 12, 2024, after a battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was at the Charleston House in Beaver Dam under the care of Rainbow Hospice.
There will be a memorial gathering at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on August 3, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home on August 3, 2024 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Sharon Ann was born on February 28, 1948, in Sheboygan Falls, WI to Marvin and Dorothy (Voigt) Van Sluys. She graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1966.
On May 18, 1968, she was united in marriage with her high school sweetheart, Gary Pyrek, in Sheboygan Falls. They started their life and family together in Sheboygan Falls.
In 1982, they moved to Portage where Sharon worked at both St. Mary's Catholic School and Don-Rick Insurance before working as the Deputy City Clerk for the City of Portage for over 20 years until she retired. Sharon had been very involved in St. Mary's Catholic Churches in both Sheboygan Falls and Portage where she enjoyed volunteering with the children's activities.
Sharon and Gary loved to entertain and often had family, friends and neighbors to their home. They also loved to spend their summers at Sky High Campground in Portage and always had fun with fellow campers. Sharon enjoyed dancing, reading, sewing, cooking, and always had an exercise routine throughout the years. Sharon and Gary moved to Beaver Dam in 2015 where they spent the summer months. In the winter, they would go to their home in Sebring Village, FL, where they remained active with their many friends.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Pyrek, of Beaver Dam; two daughters: Kimberly (Thomas) Jacobson of Eden Prairie, MN and Jill (Eric) Zimmerman of Milwaukee; four grandchildren: Tom, Ellie, and Abby Jacobson and Zakery Zimmerman; her sister-in-law, Mona Pyrek of Sheboygan Falls; other relatives and friends. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Tom Pyrek.
