Stephen Boyd Bryant
Sept. 25, 1963 - Oct. 4, 2023
Parents, Boyd and Shirley (Kitchen) Bryant, welcomed their first son, Stephen Boyd Bryant into their hearts September 25, 1963 at the Lutheran Hospital, Beaver Dam, WI. Sadly Steve (also known as Skeeter to some) succumbed to his medical problems on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 with his mom and youngest sister at his side.
Steve attended Randolph, Fox Lake, and Waupun Schools. He graduated from Moraine Park Technical College with degrees in Mechanical Drafting and Industrial Engineering in 2005. Steve was also both a Cub/Boy Scout. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, camping, and bicycling with the family.
He served in the U.S. Army and also loved riding and working on Harley Davidson motorcycles.
In his own way, Steve was always an overachiever. He walked and talked very early. In March 1985 at the age of 21, a drunk driver drove through a stop sign and collided with his motorcycle, leaving him a triplegic. In spite his disabilities, he continued to pursue life without complaint. One of his final statements was "I had a good run". He was courageous with as he said, "positive vibes only" until his final breath. Steve will be remembered for his beautiful smile and love of the outdoors.
He often was found soaking up the sun, listening to music he loved, or practicing a tune on his guitar or harmonica. For 39 years, he collected Harley parts to build his dream trike to ride once again.
Steve will be sadly missed and mourned by his mother, Shirley Bryant (Beaver Dam); his sisters: Sue Ann (Jim) George (Beaver Dam) and Shannon (Jo-Ellen) Bryant (Oceanside, CA); nieces, nephews; and several other relatives and dear friends.
Steve will be laid to rest in the Hall Cemetery on Pleasant Road, Westford Township, Dodge County, WI next to his beloved brother, Scott killed in April 1995, and his father, Boyd who died in August 2019. Also interned there are his great, great-grandparents, John and Anne Bryant. Steve also lost his beloved baby daughter, Heather in 1984.
Steve and his family wish to thank the employees of St. Mary's and Select Specialty Hospitals in Madison, Bristol Hospice, the exceptional CNA's who cared for him, Randolph Methodist Pastor Francois Russell, and his dear friends, Mike Bubolz and "the judge her honor" Jo-Ellen Alicie, who Steve loved like family.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at the Randolph United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Russell officiating and burial in Hall Cemetery just outside of Randolph. Motorcycles and attire welcome. Per Steve's request, "be who you are". After the committal service, a luncheon in celebration of Steve's life will be served at the Randolph Hutchinson Library in the Community Room (handicap accessible) located across the street from the Randolph Methodist Church. All are welcome in the spirit of "positive vibes" at Steve's request. If you knew him, please come and share your memories.
