I first met Steve when I moved my own husband into Home Again Memory Care. We became instant friends and I grew to know and love his family also.
I remember Steve studying from many different language texts (it was all Greek to me) and I shared that I had spoken French most of my life. He said he was interested in learning more about French so his son took him to Half-Priced Books to make a purchase; he was always eager to learn new things.
I will always remember how proudly he wore his Honor Flight jacket; I can only imagine what an unforgettable experience that was.
Then I noticed how much Steve enjoyed cribbage. I had not played in 40 years but he was so patient and encouraging while giving me a refresher course.
"Steve, do you know how to play Crazy 8's?" I asked. He was thrilled at the prospect of learning a new card game and we enjoyed our time playing out in the living room area. He kept reminding me that we needed to play again . . . as soon as possible.
I will miss you, my friend, but know you are resting peacefully with the Lord. It was my greatest pleasure to know you. Thank you for being my friend.

Steve is my cousin and I know he is in the Loving arms of Jesus. Growing up the Corbett family was very close and loving so he had a good foundation from which to learn from. God bless Rita and Steve's children may God comfort them in only the way He can. Steve I'll see you again in heaven.
