Thomas M. McDermott
Sept. 29, 1942 - Dec. 11, 2023
FOX LAKE - Thomas M. McDermott, age 81, of Fox Lake, died early Monday morning, December 11, 2023 at the Waupun Memorial Hospital.
Tom was born on Sept. 29, 1942 and raised in Fond du Lac, WI to parents Royal "Red" and Ruth G. (Raiche) McDermott. He was raised alongside his brothers, Royal and Kevin.
He was blessed with a life filled with love and adventure. He enjoyed getting away with family and friends to go camping. He made memories with his boys on vacations out west. He also managed to acquire his pilot's license.
Tom was a proud owner of his own bar/bowling alley, named Pie Alley, in Beaver Dam, WI where he bowled many strikes while playing the game he loved. Another favorite past time of his was enjoying golf in the sunshine and warm weather, especially with his wife, Joyce. Tom worked many years for United Notions and Fabrics out of Dallas, TX. He earned many awards for his hard work and dedication. He excelled in anything he put his efforts into.
After retirement, Tom enjoyed traveling with the NASCAR circuit with his wife, family and friends. If he wasn't watching it in person, he was watching on TV or discussing it over dinner and drinks. Tom always had a story to tell and loved to reminisce about his life well lived.
The last few years you could find Tom at his desk watching farm videos surrounded by his favorite sweets and treats. He was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. We will continue to love and honor him in our hearts and lives. Gone but never forgotten.
Loved by his wife, Joyce; his sons: Dan McDermott, Scott (Gerri) McDermott and Rob McDermott; his daughters: LeeAnn Haase, Sarah Haase and Vicki (Dylan) Minnig; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several other relatives and friends.
Tom was greeted in heaven by his parents; the mother of his sons, Kathy; his son, John; his brothers, Royal "Rollo" (Chi Chi) and Kevin (Cindy), and his granddaughter, Jenni.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
