Jean Dodge Obituary

Dodge, Jean E.

Jean E. (Peirce) Dodge, 85, of Centuria, Wisconsin passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, April 3, 2016. Jean was born November 2, 1930 in Staples, MN, daughter to Harry and Mary Peirce. Jean graduated from Staples High School and went on to attend River Falls State Teachers College (now the University of Wisconsin - River Falls). Jean married Richard Dodge on August 8, 1953. Both Jean and her husband had long standing careers as teachers. Jean spent the last 20 years of her career as an elementary teacher at St. Vincent de Paul in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

In retirement, Jean continued to be active. She joined many social groups, was an avid reader and supporter of the Amery Library and regular bridge player at the Amery Senior Center. No matter where she went she made new friends. Yet in all she did, Jean's greatest joy came from her 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Her favorite past time was to share about her family with others.

She is survived by her children, Jody (John) Halliday, Pat (Becky) Dodge, Terri (Jerry) Grant, Mary (Rich) Kranick, and Dan (Liz) Dodge, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, brother Harry E Peirce and many additional family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Mary Peirce, her sister Kay Mead and brother Francis Peirce.

The memorial service for Jean will be held on Wednesday, April 6th, 2016 at 3pm at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, WI. Visitation will begin at 2pm. All are invited to join the family at the Amery Senior Center after the service. A grave site service will follow later in the spring in River Falls, WI.

She made a difference in the lives of many. We will remember her warmth, her generosity, her love for life, family and friends.

To the Dodge family, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your wife, mother, and grandmother. You have my deepest sympathies. She raised a great family, I had the pleasure of working with Mary, Terri, and Dan at McDonalds so many years ago. Again my condolences.

Jean was a special client of mine at my Beauty Salon in Port Edwards. When she walked in the door, the room lit up. She was fun, funny, and smart! She debated with me that she was more Catholic than I was, because she taught Catholic kiddo's for 20 years, and I agreed with her, finally!

I miss her and think of her and fun times each time I pass the homestead on 2nd Ave. in W,R.

My Deepest Condolences to all.

God Bless you,

Mrs. Dodge was my 3rd grade teacher, was one of the most caring and loving people, I have ever known, she went the extra mile to make sure that the kids were learning and even helped to tutor me on the side, she will truly be missed.

My heart goes out to all of you. Your family was a part of ours for years and your mom was a wonderful matriarch. Walt passed away 3-11 of this year. Bet they are already talking about all of us. Your "babysitter".
