Roth, John "Jake"

John "Jake" Roth, age 87, of Wisconsin Rapids, died December 5, 2013 at The Renaissance.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 9th at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Thomas Graves will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. Sunday, December 8th at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Monday at the church.

Jake was born in Junction City, WI on March 5, 1926 to Jacob and Rose (Zimmerman) Roth. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Junction City and graduated from Rudolph High School in 1943. Jake married Johanna Schulz on September 27, 1947 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dancy, WI.

Jake started his career with Consolidated Papers Inc., Biron Division, as a millwright and advanced to being a maintenance superintendent, retiring in January of 1988 after 41 years.

He was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, serving as an usher, elder, on the Missions Board, property caretaker, and vice president.

Jake loved snowmobiling, pontoon boating, and living on the Wisconsin River with Johanna for 32 years. They enjoyed sharing time together cutting down trees and creating perfect piles of logs. Jake was also a handyman and was often called on for do it yourself projects for his family members.

Survivors include his loving wife, Johanna, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; three children: Sheri (Richard) Boehme; Jim (Jan) Roth; and Rick Roth, all of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; seven grandchildren: Jason (Lucia) Roth, Madison, WI; Richard Boehme, Roscoe, IL; Ryan (Eileen) Roth, Chicago, IL; Ben (Melissa) Roth, Stevens Point, WI; Jenny Roth, Marshfield, WI; and Samantha Roth, Green Bay, WI; brother: Richard (Arlene) Roth, Junction City, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Helen Moscinski and infant brother, Gary Roth.
