Kenneth Nelson

Wisconsin Rapids - Kenneth E. Nelson, age 68, of the Town of Saratoga (Wisconsin Rapids) died Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Nekoosa United Church of Christ. Rev. Timothy Miller will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Nekoosa with military rites provided by Babcock American Legion. A memorial visitation will be held at the church Monday from 11:30 AM until time of service. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at ritchayfuneralhome.com.



Ken was born March 2, 1950 in the Town of Hansen, Wood County, WI to Walter and Florence (Leggett) Nelson. He served in the United States Army with the 75th Rangers during the Vietnam War from 1969-1971. Ken married Linda Nugent on July 9, 1994 in Vansant, VA. For 33 years he was employed at Consolidated Papers, retiring as a supervisor of the Kraft Mill.

Ken was an avid hunter and fisherman, who especially enjoyed his trips to South Dakota pheasant hunting. He was a long time member of the Yellow River Rod and Gun Club. Ken was also a member of the Babcock American Legion and the New Miner VFW. He also took great joy in riding his Harley Davidson.

He is survived by his wife Linda Nelson, four children, Sharron Nelson of Necedah, Michelle Wipperfurth of Wisconsin Rapids, Tina (Chet) Nelson Bowman of Melrose, Steven (Melissa) Wipperfurth of Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren Stephanie and Jacob Searles, Athen Arzt, Wyatt Bowman, Lakota Nelson, Kyla Cooper, and Blake and Lexi Wipperfurth; great grandson Jacob John A. Searles; nine siblings Iva Bannerman, Barbara Nelson, Rose Bagnowski, Vern (Judie) Nelson, Violet Bohn, Delores Nelson, Laurrie (Mary) Nelson, Sherri Nelson all of Nekoosa and Jean Nelson of Colfax.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, son Shannon Nelson, grandson Austin Nelson, brother Donald Nelson, infant brother Orville Nelson, and brothers in-law, Richard Bannerman, Elmer Bagnowski, and Larry Bohn.
