Marion Bennett Obituary

Marion P. Bennett, 80, of Portage, Ind., passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011.

Marion was born Dec. 18, 1930, in Numa, Iowa, the son of Nova and Lela (nee Andrews) Bennett. He married Lenora M. (nee Hunt) Bennett in Centerville, Iowa, on May 27, 1948. He was a foreman (39 years) at U.S. Steel, Gary Works; retiring in 1988. He was a member of Evergreen Memorial Baptist Church, Hobart, Ind.

Marion was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to all. He is survived by his loving family - wife, Lenora of Portage, Ind.; three sons, Ronald (Sue) of Hobart, Ind., Kevin (Susan Knuth) of Wisconsin Rapids, and Richard (Heidi Hill) of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Marilyn (Mac) Lloyd of Tennessee and Sharon Harlan of Illinois; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; a son-in- law, Jim Payne; and other loving family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cheryl Payne; four brothers; stepfather; and a brother-in-law.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday in Hobart, Ind., with visitation tonight. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Evergreen Memorial Baptist Church, 3900 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Ind.
