Victor Axelson Obituary
Victor J. Axelson, age 69, of 843 Richmond Way, town of Rome died Friday January 11, 2013 at the Palliative Care Unit of St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, WI.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday January 19, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa, WI. Rev. John Steiner will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home of Nekoosa is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.ritchayfuneralhome.com.
Victor was born March 13, 1943 in LaMoure, ND to Harold and Genevieve (Cloke) Axelson. He married Linda Carl on Sept. 5, 1964 in Milwaukee. She died May 17, 1996. He married Gerine Keller on Oct. 8, 2005 in Nekoosa. Victor served in the US Army from 1963 - 1968 and was stationed in Viet Nam from 1967 - 1968. His awards included the Bronze Star. He was employed by Sawall Masonry of Menomonee Falls, retiring in 1995.
Victor was a former member of the VFW in Milwaukee and of the National Rifle Association. His interests included hunting, fishing, traveling, bowling and dancing. He was an avid Coca Cola collector and was a fan of NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers. He greatly enjoyed his dogs - Trooper, Trixie and Angel. Victor was quick witted and displayed a deft sense of humor. He was a proud provider for his family and greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Gerine, four children Lynnette Axelson Miller of Eau Claire, Kenneth (Deb) Axelson of Plover, James (Krystine) Axelson of Wauwatosa and Andrew (Stacey) Axelson of Altoona; two step children Jamall Amin and Amy Crowns of Wis. Rapids; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren; three brothers Larry (Nancy) Axelson of Clam Falls, Todd Axelson of Wind Lake and Kim (Julie) Axelson of Waukesha; two sisters Jeanine Axelson of Wind Lake and Pamela (Mike) Pietsch of Wild Rose; and one sister in law Kathy Axelson of Waterford. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Linda and one brother Brent Axelson.
