Beverly L. Helmer

NEWPORT – Beverly L. Helmer, 73, formerly of Newport, passed away on September 1, 2025, at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, where she has resided since 2020. Mrs. Helmer was born on December 31, 1951 in Herkimer, a daughter of the late Wesley and Ellen (Satterlee) Looman. She received her education from West Canada Valley Schools. On August 8, 1970, Beverly was united in marriage with Bradford J. Helmer at Herkimer United Methodist Church. The couple moved to Oklahoma in 1992. She enjoyed traveling and quilting. Beverly moved back to Newport in 2005 after Bradford's death on October 10, 2005. Survivors include three children, Karen (Scott) Lawson of Cold Brook, Bradford Jr. (Amy) Helmer of Hilton, and Brian (Stacy) Helmer of Cold Brook; two step-daughters, Tammy (William) Helmer-Bergen of Little Falls and Connie (Rich) Jordan of Fort Plain; two sisters, Kathy (Ralph) Mueller and Teresa (Jerry) Robinson; a brother-in-law, Harold Coe; seven grandchildren, Brian Helmer Jr., Brandon Sorce, Addison and Declan Helmer, George and Rebecca Jones and William Bergen Jr.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Bradford, Beverly was predeceased by two sisters, Shirley Coe and Dorothy Klotz; and two grandchildren, Rochelle Jones and Thomas Bergen. Calling hours at the Autenrith Funeral Home, 7479 Main Street, Newport are Friday, September 5 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. A prayer service will take place at 12:00pm with Deacon Michael Carbone officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
