Carl Harris Obituary
Carl Frank Harris, 90, of South Hamilton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton. He was born on Easter Day, April 21, 1935, in South Hamilton, a son of the late Clyde J. and Ann (Prenis) Harris. On May 26, 1956, Carl married the love of his life, Darlene Albro, in Hamilton.
Carl lived in the same house on Harris Road in South Hamilton since he was six years old. He lived a very active and full life for his 90 years. Carl worked as Highway Superintendent for the Town of Hamilton from 1972 until 1987. He did his job with his special expertise and compassion for the community. Carl and Darlene started the "Harris Butterflies" craft business in 1987 until their retirement.
Carl loved his family and enjoyed many family gatherings and spending time with the kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always took an interest in all of their lives. He loved traveling, camping, gardening and doing research in family genealogy for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Darlene, children: Amy (Don) Johnson, Vicki (Harris) Griffin, Lori (Kevin) Moon, Jody (Keith) Palmer, Wayne Harris, grandchildren: Keith Palmer,Jr., Joanne Shoemaker, Shane Palmer, Lisa Putnam, Lee Griffin, Kim Trosper, Bruce Harris, Brent Harris, great-grandchildren: Ryan Reisdorf, Zachary and Sam Moon, John and Nicholas Wolanski, Leo and Layla Jayson, George, Dora and Bridgette Palmer, Madeline and Anna Lee Shoemaker, Eddie and Louie Palmer, Harper and Sawyer Harris; a sister-in-law, Judy Peach, nephews, Bill and Philip Harris, Jeff Brustad, and a niece, Julie Hatch.
He was predeceased by his brother, William Harris, a brother-in-law, Bruce Albro, son-in-law, Harris Griffin, grandchildren, Joshua Moon, Kelli Putnam, Bryan Griffin, Jessica (Putnam) Jayson.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at noon on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at the East Hamilton United Methodist Church, 1760 State Route 12, Hubbardsville, NY 13355.
Interment in Graham Cemetery, Hubbardsville, will be private at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to thank the entire staff of Community Memorial Hospital for their excellent compassion and care.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations may be made to the East Hamilton United Methodist Church in memory of Carl Harris.
