Ceta Whaley Obituary

SOUTH PLYMOUTH: Ceta L Whaley gained her wings on July 25, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She passed away at home with her family at her side. Born June 6, 1956, in Norwich, New York to Leon and Grace Franklin, Ceta graduated in 1975 from Otselic Valley Central School. She married her husband Jeffrey Whaley on June 3, 1977. Together they had one daughter, Christi. She was a life-long resident of Pharsalia and spent most of her working career at Mid York Press, from where she retired. Ceta will be remembered as an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor. She was always able to make the best of very little and sacrificed much of her life making sure her husband and daughter always had all they needed. Ceta will be forever remembered for her tenacious spirit and quick wit. Anyone that knew her would never doubt where she stood or what she felt. She loved people and having fun, and enjoyed camping, visiting The Ontario, and riding her four-wheeler to see her neighbors. Ceta is survived by her daughter, Christi Stone and significant other, Timothy Button of South Plymouth. Also surviving are her grandchildren Devin and Angel Stone of Earlville, Nicholas Stone and girlfriend Allyson Ryans of Smyrna, Shelby and Gregory Harvey of Norwich and Alicia Bitzer and boyfriend Arlo Biviano of Norwich. She is also survived by her sister Alice (Richard) Thompson of Norwich, nieces Nicole Thompson of Norwich, Logan Thompson and significant other Justin Lindenthaler of Vestal, and two great nephews Harlan and Thatcher Romaine of Norwich. She is also survived by many brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, and nephews on her husband's side of the family. She was predeceased by her parents Leon and Grace Franklin, her mother and father-in-law Allie & Bernice Whaley, and husband Jeff Whaley. Per Ceta's wishes there will not be any funeral services, however a celebration of her life will take place on a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Pharsalia Fire Department or to the Pharsalia Cemetery Association. Arrangements are entrusted to the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S.
