Clayton A. Baker

AVA/Remsen- Clayton A. Baker, 80, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Rome Health. He was born on July 8, 1945 in Utica, the son of the late George and Mildred M. Ingersoll Baker. Clayton grew up on the farm on James Road and graduated from Remsen High School with the class of 1963. After school, he worked odd jobs along with continuing to help on the family farm. Clayton later went to work at the Central New York Psychiatric Center in Utica as a Therapy Aid, a job he held for over 30 years until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shooting trap. Clayton also enjoyed reloading bullets for many people through the years. He was a life member of the Trenton Fish and Game Club. Clayton is survived by his children, Kristel (Joe) White, James (Georgianna) Baker, Glenn (Heather) Baker, and Joanne Baker (David Oakes); his long-time companion of over 30 years, Nita Rundle; eight grandchildren, Brandon and Angle Fox, Matt, Joe, Kyle, and Logan Baker, and Emma and Cheyenne Snyder; eight great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Betty Santee and Lorena Alm. His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Ackley-Mills Funeral Home, 9597 Main Street, Remsen. Calling hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery.
