David P Schuler

David P. Schuler, 61, of Oneida, passed away early Saturday morning, March 8, 2025, at Oneida Health Hospital Emergency Room after being stricken at home. He was born on June 8, 1963, in Syracuse, the son of George P. and Helen (Hoyt) Schuler. On August 18, 2007, he was united in marriage to Jean M. Joslyn. Jean passed away on August 16, 2014. Dave had a deep passion for small mechanics and engine repair. He also enjoyed model cars. Surviving are his three children, Justin T. Bender (Ashley Smith), of Oneida, Julie F. Schuler (Matthew Cohee), of Oneida, and James D. (Isabelle) Schuler, of Rome; nine grandchildren, Jailynn Bender, Raelyn Barlow, Tyler Howe, Justin Bender Jr., McKenzie Bender, Kendall Bender, Nicholas Schuler, Jackson Schuler, Lucas Schuler, and one more on the way; three brothers, Bobby Schuler, of Chittenango, Denny (Vicki) Schuler, and Richard Schuler; a sister, Sheryl Schuler, of Kirkville; his mother-in-law, Frances Joslyn, of Oneida; the mother of several of his grandchildren, Tiffany Howe, of Oneida, and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Dave was predeceased by his father-in-law, Lewis Joslyn; and his sister, Linda Schuler. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 1:30 PM at the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will take place in McConnellsville Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday prior to the services from 12:00 PM (Noon) to 1:30 PM.
