Dennis Getter Obituary

UTICA – Mr. Dennis J. Getter, age 79, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 13, 2025. Born in Utica on October 14, 1945, Dennis was the son of the late John and Genevieve (Pontoriero) Getter. Raised and educated locally, he was a proud graduate of Utica Free Academy. On August 14, 1982, he was united in marriage with the former Cynthia "Cindy" Cole. The couple shared a devoted union of 42 years prior to Cindy's passing on August 29, 2024. Dennis held various positions throughout his career, including at Northeast Medical, where he transported life-saving oxygen. He also worked as an inspector for ABC Fire Extinguishing Co. Dennis thoroughly loved and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his adoring grandchildren. He consistently put his family's needs above his own. Steadfast in all things - especially his opinions - Dennis was known for his quick wit and love of spirited conversation. He enjoyed verbally sparring with others and always had a clever and intelligent comeback at the ready. His conversational skills not only made people feel comfortable but also ensured he was always at the heart of a good time. In his spare time, Dennis could often be found outdoors, either fishing or enjoying a round of golf. A passionate sports fan, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved New York Yankees and New York Giants. Dennis is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Matthew Randall; and grandchildren, Bryson Randall, and Alyssa Randall. He was preceded by his triplet granddaughters, Isabella Marie, Emilee Rose, and Madison Jean Randall, who became angels on April 10, 2006. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerome "Jerry" and Sandy Getter, and James and Kim Getter; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; and in-laws Ella May and Phil Tooly, Cindy Cole (the late Frederick V. Cole), and James R. and Darci Cole. He is additionally preceded by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald J. and Jean (Conley) Cole, and his brother-in-law, Patrick Cole. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Oneida Center for their care and compassion. In keeping with Dennis' wishes, there will be no public services. His family will honor and commemorate his life privately. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.

Yesterday

I have the fondest memories of Denny and Cind, bowling and various get togethers. He was so funny and witty and we laughed most of the time we spent together. I am sure he and Cindy
are soaring high now....hope they see my husband Paul....many wishes for moments of peace while you travel this road of grief.
