Dolores M. Butler

Dolores M. Butler, 96 years, went home to the Lord on September 29, 2025 after a long and very blessed life. She was born on July 28, 1929 to Margaret E. (Reilly) and John T. Butler. Dolores was raised and educated in Utica and was employed for many years by AT&T. She loved traveling both in this country and overseas and spent several summers enjoying camping in her RV on Hinckley Lake, surrounded by family and friends. A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Church until its closing. She then joined Our Lady of Lourdes Church and was presently a member of Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish. Known affectionately as Aunt Dot, she is survived by four nieces and two nephews-in-law, Charleen George, Utica, Doris and Terrence Gibbons, Staten Island, Margaret and Thomas Garry, New Jersey, Therese Gallagher, Utica; as well as her nephew and his wife, Terrance and Elba Gallagher, Georgia. She also leaves fifteen great-nieces and nephews and their children. Dolores was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Doris M. and Charles J.P Gallagher; her infant brother, a special cousin, Melvia M. Vance; nephew, Charles J.P. Gallagher, Jr., and her nephew-in-law, Anthony J. George. Her family would like to express warmest thanks to her caregivers for their dedication and kindness. They, together with a dear friend and neighbor, Eleanor Newman, ensured that Dolores had the comfort, dignity and best quality of life up to her last days. Additionally, we thank Calvin Warren, who was employed by Dolores for many years helping her maintain her home and making it possible for her to age in place. Throughout the years he became a true friend and his children, Liam and Aisling gave Dolores great joy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday, October 11th at 11 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Our Savior Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes. The family will receive guests following the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Waterville.
