Dustin E. Gross

ILION – Dustin E. Gross, 42, of East Main Street, passed away unexpectedly on August 17, 2025, at his home. Dustin was born on July 5, 1983, in Herkimer, a son of Mark and Robin (Vrooman) Gross. He graduated from Mohawk High School and furthered his education at HCCC and Oneonta State College. Dustin was a CNC machinist at Remington Arms for several years and was currently employed by Pursuit Aerospace, Whitesboro. Dustin enjoyed playing video games, listening to music and attending music festivals. Dustin will be remembered for his special sense of humor and witty responses. He could make anyone laugh on their worst day. He loved spending time with his family, especially on July 4th picnics. He was always asking what's for dessert mom? When Dustin and his brothers were in the same room the laughter was so loud you couldn't hear anything else. Dustin will be dearly missed, never forgotten and forever in our hearts. Survivors include his parents, Mark and Robin Gross of Mohawk; three brothers, Jeromie (Joni) LaBarge of Mohawk, Joshua (Sara) Gross of Little Falls, and Matthew Gross of Mohawk; nephews, J.J. and Ethan LaBarge and Connor Gross; a niece, Nora Gross. His feline friend, Gomez Adams; aunts and uncles, Marie (Paul) Simmons, Tom (Donna) Gross, and Brad Vrooman and his partner, Dee Rankins. Dustin was predeceased by his grandparents Richard and Sandra Gross and Norman and Carol Vrooman. In addition to his grandparents, he was predeceased by his beautiful niece, baby Abigail Gross. Private services will take place at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport. Memorial contributions in Dustin's memory can be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
