Esther Marie Thayer

Esther Marie Thayer, 82, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Utica, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on June 13, 1943, in Utica, Esther dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked for many years as a Nursing Assistant in the Utica area, providing compassion and comfort to those who could not care for themselves. Her gentle spirit and tireless devotion to others touched countless lives. Outside of her work, Esther found joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a green thumb and took great pride in her garden, where she spent many happy hours. She was also a devoted animal lover, always extending her kindness to every creature, big or small. Above all, Esther cherished her family and was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Esther is survived by her beloved children, Lana Turner and Wallace Turner, Jr.; her grandchildren, Joshua Turner, Wallace Turner III, Evan Tourtelot, Christopher Turner, Giovanna Turner, Zachary Bright, Michael Turner, and Jordan Turner; her great-grandchildren, Kyra Rios-Turner, Keyona Turner, Elijah Turner, Kayden Turner, Rylee Turner, Navenna Turner, Christopher Turner, Jr., Gabriel Turner, Rabeca Turner, Brooke Turner, Mikaela Turner, Wallace Turner IV, and Lana Turner; and her great-great-grandchildren, Verenzo Patterson and Vercellus Patterson. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Wallace Turner, Sr., who passed away in 1986; her daughter, Anna Turner; and several brothers and sisters. In keeping with Esther's wishes, funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
