Jan Miller Obituary

Jan N. Miller, age 70, of Rome, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, with her family by her side, after a brief illness. Jan was born in Rome on January 5, 1955, to the late Charles and Barbara Neaf Agans, and was a 1972 graduate of RFA. On February 25, 1978, she was united in marriage to Frederick J. Miller at St. John's Church; a blessed union of 42 years until his passing on November 29, 2020. She was previously employed as the Director of Human Resources for various long-term care facilities in the area. She was also a certified dog trainer which was her passion. Though Jan loved all dogs, her heart remained with pit bulls, which is why she became a pit bull advocate and adopted three of her own. Jan was always the happiest when she was with her family, especially when she was spending time with her beloved granddaughters, Zoey and Evie. She was a lover of all music, but she especially enjoyed going to see Motley Crue with her daughter, Megan, and Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie with Megan, Chris, Zoey, and Evie. Jan is survived by her daughter, Megan (Chris) Hanrahan of Rome; her granddaughters, Zoey and Evie Hanrahan; three sisters, Jody (Tom) Vaillancourt, Tammy (Kenneth) Heinrich, and Barbara (Tom) Sweeney; her sister in law, Judy (Jim) Theall; nephews and nieces, James Theall III, Andrea Theall, Tia Theall, Jade Theall, Eric, Adam, and Jacob Heinrich, Colleen and Schuyler Vaillancourt, and Kevin Sweeney; and great niece and nephews, Alana, Jace, and Maddox Theall. Jan will be sorely missed by Megan, Chris, Zoey, Evie, Tammy, and her beloved pit bull, Gemma. Jan will be greeted in heaven by her mother and father (Charles and Barbara Agans), mother and father-in-law (Ronald and Antoinette Miller), her beloved nephew David Heinrich, and her loving husband, Fred. Per Jan's wishes, services will be private. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Please offer online condolences at: www.BarryFuneralHome.com.
