Janice Marie (Roberts) Gorecki
November 30, 1943 – August 30, 2025
Janice Gorecki passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Janice was born and raised in New York Mills where she attended New York Mills Jr.-Sr. High School. It was there that she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Edward Gorecki. The couple married in April 1964 and moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina where Ed was assigned to Special Forces at Fort Bragg. In 1965 they came back to the area and later made their home in New York Mills. In 1987 they moved to Marcy, NY where they have resided since.
Janice was employed for 33 years at Utica Mutual Insurance. She took great pride in her work and truly loved her job in HR. There she made many lasting friendships, especially with her dear friend Sandy Inman.
Janice enjoyed music and dancing and was a huge Barry Manilow fan, attending many of his concerts over the years. She also loved shopping, visiting the casino, and most of all spending time with her family. She never turned down a soda or a bag of Lays Potato Chips!!
Janice was loved by all who met her as she was one of the sweetest and kindest people you could ever know. Her gentle heart and beautiful smile left a lasting impression.
She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Edward and Gladys (Vosbury) Roberts; her brother, Ronald; her sister, Sandra Yagey; her dear aunts, Betty and Nennie Roberts; and her special cousin, Winnie.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Edward Gorecki; her daughters Tammy (Art) McCoy of Whitesboro, Debbie (Bryan) Mikoy of Georgia, and Barb (Kurt) Schwenzfeier of New York Mills; her adored grandchildren Dustin, Mitchel and Alyson Aiello; Meagan and Stephanie McCoy; Melanie and Owen Mikoy; and her great-grandson, Jack, with whom she shared a special bond playing hide and seek.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jessica, who cared for Mom over the past year and has truly become a member of the family. We would also like to thank Melissa, who joined more recently and quickly won Mom's heart and Dad's stomach with her incredible culinary skills. A special thank you is also extended to Crystal and all the Hospice staff for their compassionate care.
Those wishing to honor Janice's memory may do so by supporting Hospice, the
Alzheimer's Association, or St. Judes, her
charity of choice.
Visitation will be held at Dimbleby Funeral Homes 40 Main Street, Whitesboro, NY 13491 on Friday, September 5th from 4-6 pm. Followed by a service at 6:00 PM
