Jeffrey Eveleth Obituary

In Loving Memory Jeffrey S. Eveleth Sr. August 4, 1944 – June 16, 2025 WESTDALE, NY – Jeffrey S. Eveleth Sr. 80, of Westdale, NY; passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025 with his loving family by his side. He was born on August 4, 1944, in Longmeadow, Mass to the late Noah S. and Margaret Anderson Eveleth. Jeffrey was a graduate of Governor Dummer Academy (Byfield, Mass) and received his college degrees from Amherst College (Amherst, Mass), University of Massachusetts (Amherst) and the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities). He met the love of his life, Beth while an undergrad at a mixer with ladies from Smith College. They were married in 1965 and together until her passing in 2021. During his graduate studies, Jeffrey focused on teaching the works of Shakespeare along with a smattering of Middle English. Works such as Beowulf, The Canterbury Tales and more were shared with college aged students whose desires may not have been in sync with required English courses. Later in life he was known to quote sonnets and soliloquies around the Farm to their cows, his children and other captive audiences. It was during this time that the couple decided to give up the professional "9 to 5" and take on the challenges of dairy farming. With 200 head of registered Jerseys, multiple pets and two children the family settled on the old Platt Farm in 1979. In 1981, he took a night shift job at Omega Wire as a weigh master to help support the Farm. It was during his time there that he earned the sobriquet of "Farmer" and forevermore the "Farmer's Daughter" came to be. Retiring in 1987 from Omega, the Farm went through some iterations to finally running registered Angus in its pastures. Those who knew Jeffrey also knew that shooting was one of his passions. He won over seven NRA Sharpshooter titles and worked a stint at Savage Arms during his final year at Amherst College to support his NRA Sharpshooter wife and infant daughter. While there he handcrafted a.410 shotgun as a gift to his beautiful bride. Together they enjoyed the sport of trap. This tradition is proudly carried on by their grandson, Patrick. Later on the Farm (as the neighbors were aware), target shooting became a family affair. Jeffrey also enjoyed sailing whether it was on Oneida Lake, the English Channel, the waters in Weymouth Mass (the Atlantic) or Lake Ontario; he loved the wind in his beard and his toe rails in the water. The family and special friends were always welcomed aboard and many memories were made by all. He was predeceased by his lovely wife, Beth and his brother, John P. Eveleth. Jeffrey is survived by his greatest achievement - his family. The "Farmer's Daughter," Catherine (Cat) Eveleth, her partner Ben Knowles and their son, Philip. In addition his son Jeff, wife Kelly Malone-Eveleth and their awesome sons, Patrick and Luke. Jeffrey also has three nephews, his favorite cat - Bizzy and an Air Force of multiple squadrons of Canadian Geese. Funeral Services will be celebrated privately. Jeffrey was laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown, NY. Arrangements are in care of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, Camden, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Jeffrey's memory to the Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
