Jessica Rose Stephenson Obituary

Boonville – Jessica Rose Stephenson, 29, beloved mother of Jayden and Kylie, passed away tragically from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

Jessica Rose was born on January 1, 1996 in Rome, New York, a daughter of John Stephenson and Laura Griffin. She received her education at Adirondack Central School, Boonville, where she also attended BOCES, taking classes in cosmetology. This turned into a lifelong passion for Jessica, not only with her own exotic hair colors and styles, she helped out many family and friends through her talents as a hairstylist. She was very proud of her current employment with Local #190, Utica, working as a heavy highway construction laborer.

Jessica has always been a goal setter and a high achiever. With the arrival of her two children, she would settle for nothing less than the best for them. She was a highly talented cook, and enjoyed making homemade meals from scratch.

Described best as the embodiment of love, and a true friend; she cherished the time she spent with friends and loved ones. She lived life to the absolute fullest, and loved every minute of it. Jessica had a natural talent when it came to the arts. She was a painter and drawer, and also liked wood burning. Recently she had established her own tattoo business and worked out of her home studio.

Jessica also found joy in anything outdoorsy, whether that be hunting or fishing, four-wheeling or snowmobiling, she did it all. She also enjoyed gardening and had a soft spot for all animals great and small. She was a forager and harvested many mushrooms and wild herbs to make tinctures and homemade remedies.

She is survived by her children: Jayden and Kylie, her mother Laura Griffin, Holiday, FL, her father and step-mother: John & Jill Stephenson, West Leyden, sister: Jannelle Stephenson, West Leyden, half-siblings: Amanda Bruno, Boonville, Ricky Bruno, FL, and step-sister: Eleanor Stephenson. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Alia, Joey, Desirae and Mason, paternal grandparents: Herbert and Antoinette Stephenson, and several aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents: Loren and June Griffin, and paternal uncle Bruce Stephenson. She is also survived by her significant other Matthew Tanner and many friends that loved her including best friends: Emilee Mathis Backer and Devyn Disotell.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 14, from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. A further celebration of Jessica’s life, hosted by her mother Laura, sister Nelly and friends will be held on Saturday October 18th, beginning at 1:00 pm at 10609 Sulphur Springs Road, Taberg, New York 13472. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the well being and care of her children, which is being established at First Source Federal Credit Union.
