John Brown Obituary
BOONVILLE - John Berard Brown, 92, passed away on October 7, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 11, 1933 in Lowville, a son of the late Oswald and Therese Berard Brown. John grew up in Boonville and attended Boonville Central School. In 1951 he entered the United States Navy, serving until his honorable discharge in 1954. On May 24, 1958, he married Kay M. Spencer at St. Joseph's Church in Boonville, a loving union of 57 years lasting until Kay's passing on August 30, 2015. John worked at Revere Copper and Brass in Rome as an industrial plumber for 42 years.
He was an avid skier, starting at an early age by walking up Park Hill and Jackson Hills to ski. John also enjoyed riding backroads on his motorcycle with Kay, boating on Kayuta and Hinckley Lakes with family and friends, and the never-ending home improvement projects.
He was a lifetime member of Harlan J. Hennessey VFW Post #5538 and Charles J. Love American Legion Post #406.
John is survived by three daughters, Maureen (Michael) Deaner of Rome, Colleen (Greg) Iseneker, and Sheilagh (Mark) Nolan; five grandchildren, Devin Engle, Brennan and Brett Iseneker, Thomas and Daniel Nolan; three great-grandchildren, Audrey and Jared Nolan, and Blake Iseneker. John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Christ Our Hope/St. Joseph's Church, 112 Charles Street, Boonville, with Rev. Thomas Ward officiating. There are no calling hours. Burial will follow the Mass at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville, with members of Harland J. Hennessey VFW and Charles J. Love Post American Legion, all of Boonville, will conduct military honors. Memorial contributions in John's name may be made to Harland J. Hennessey VFW Post #5538,108 Park Avenue, Boonville, NY 13309 or Charles J. Love Post American Legion #406, 122-124 East Schuyler Street, Boonville, NY 13309 or to the Boonville Fire Company Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 164, Boonville, NY 13309. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mills Funeral Home, Boonville.
