Karl Kohnert Obituary

Karl E. Kohnert, 71, of Glenfield, died early Tuesday morning, May 20, 2025 at Samaritan Medical Center. Karl was born on January 22, 1954 in Teaneck, NJ the son of the late Ernest E. and Dorothea Viola (Winter) Kohnert. Karl graduated high school with a vocational diploma in Ridgewood, NJ. He furthered his trade at Glenfield BOCES with a degree in machinist trades. Karl worked for ten yeas at Kovach Land Surveying a job that he truly enjoyed. He was a retired machinist from CEM Machine in Carthage. He was with his best friend, Cathy LaVancha for 25 years when they decided to be married. They have spent 46 years together. Surviving are his wife, Cathy, his son, Jason M. and his wife Wendy A. Greene; his grandchildren, Andrew Jr., Lanie, Kyle, Caleb, Cody, Jada, Jayden, Leah, and Abigail; and his great grandson, Tucker; his three sisters, Kerry L. Kohnert; Christine M. Kohnert; and Kathleen J. (Joseph) Frascino; nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sons, Andrew J. Greene, Sr., Gregory D. Greene, and his sister Ruthann M. McLearie. Karl loved riding his motorcycle while listening to classic rock, the outdoors, and videoing every family event. He was an avid pool player and played in the Lewis Co. billiard league. He especially enjoyed the time he and Cathy spent traveling in their camper for five years after retirement. They headed out west to the national parks, meeting great people and friends on the way. Karl treasured their time at Yellowstone National Park. A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home on the Bliss Road, Sunday, June 1st., starting at 2:00pm.
