Margaret Bolton Obituary

CANASTOTA... Margaret L. Bolton, 78, of Old County Road West, Canastota, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Wynn Hospital, Utica, following a brief illness. She was born on May 22, 1947, in Canastota, the daughter of the late Leland and Ruth (Hurley) Virgil. Margaret has lived in the Canastota area all of her life, attending the Canastota Schools. She enjoyed crafting, puzzles, visiting with her friend over coffee at McDonalds, and spending time with her family. Margaret married James E. Bolton on August 21, 1971, in Clockville. Mr. Bolton passed away on March 27, 1998. Surviving are: one daughter, Linda Cornish; two sisters, Helen Grems, and Nancy Virgil, both of Canastota; four grandchildren, David Cornish, Jr., Keith Cornish, Jennifer Cornish, and James Cornish; great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews, including Brenda Loveless, and many cousins. Margaret was predeceased by four brothers, Donald Virgil, Raymond Virgil, Richard Virgil, and Carl Virgil; and two sisters, Jean Virgil and Marjorie Virgil. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Pastor Donna Chapman, of the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Oneida. Arrangements are under the supervision of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota. In her memory, contributions may be made to Wanderers' Rest Humane Association, Inc., PO Box 535, Canastota, NY 13032, or to the Greater Lenox Ambulance Service, Inc., PO Box 382, Canastota, NY 13032.
