Marilyn DeVoy Obituary

Marilyn T. "Murna" Therese (Capri) DeVoy, age 81, of Utica, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 24, 1944, in Utica, she was the cherished daughter of the late Louis Capri and Mary (Muraca) Capri. On December 7, 1985, Marilyn was united in marriage with the love of her life, W. Edwin "Doc" DeVoy. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and lasting memories. The couple shared over 28 years together prior to Doc's passing on March 26, 2014. Marilyn earned her bachelor's degree and dedicated her career to helping others through her work in the healthcare field. She served with compassion and dedication at both the Lutheran Home and United Cerebral Palsy. Marilyn will be remembered as a warm-hearted, sociable woman who brought joy to everyone around her. She had a love for garage sales, cooking, baking, bingo, and especially crocheting. Her handcrafted blankets were treasured gifts, made with love for her family. She is survived by her beloved children, Irene Loisell, Robin Williams, Maria and Jamie Everson, Joseph DeVoy, Christopher and Holly DeVoy, Howie Wilson, John and Pam DeVoy, Christine and Bret Snyder, and Ann DeVoy. She also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her dear brother, Butch Capri; and several loving nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Marilyn was predeceased by her loving husband, W. Edwin "Doc" DeVoy; her parents, Louis and Mary Capri; and two great-grandchildren, Steven Everson, and Braylen Klein. Marilyn's kind spirit, gentle heart, and unwavering love for her family will be forever remembered and deeply missed. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 3:00-5:00 p.m., at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Marilyn's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
