Pastor Michael Tollerton

In Loving Memory Pastor Michael L. Tollerton February 28, 1953 – April 6, 2025 BLOSSVALE, NY - Pastor Michael Tollerton (Pastor Mike) went back to the Lord on Sunday, April 6, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. He leaves behind his beloved wife Mary Jo (Vollmer); daughter of Richard and Jean Vollmer; three brothers Victor (Mary) of Utica NY, Stephen (Lori) of Groveland Florida, and David of Mount Pleasant South Carolina; his sister-in-law Sharon Vollmer of Oswego NY; brother-in-law LeRoy (Terry) Vollmer of Lake Placid Florida; an aunt Sandy Tollerton of Richfield Springs NY, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Mike and Mary Jo were adopted as "grandparents" by Alexis (Eldridge) Kelly and her husband Ryan who currently live in Wadsworth Ohio. In time Mike and Mary Jo became great grandparents to Lexi and Ryan's children Sophie, Ollie and Darcy. Mike very much loved them all, and he was especially fond of video calls with "the kids". After graduating in 1974 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy NY Mike started his career at HQ NCA at Griffiss AFB as a telephone central office engineer. He then moved to PAR Technology where he worked for nearly 40 years. Mike very much considered himself a "Renaissance Engineer" working at various positions including telephone system design, public address sound system design, computer programming, system administration, analog and digital hardware design, computer security, and many years as PAR's corporate domain postmaster. Mike completed his career at PAR in 2017 as the result of corporate downsizing at which time he retired. Mike started his career as a "part time" pastor in 2005 as Supply Pastor appointed to the Lowell Methodist church and he became a Licensed Local Pastor in 2006. After serving in Lowell Pastor Mike was appointed to the Florence Methodist church in 2008 and he became a registered ordained minister with the United National Church in 2020. Pastor Mike greatly loved preaching and teaching, especially at "young disciple" time during Sunday services. A Memorial Service in Pastor Mike's honor will be celebrated at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from the Vienna United Methodist Church, 2410 NY-49, Blossvale, NY.
