Mildred Ida "Millie" Devine

1934 - 2024

ILION - After 90 years filled with love and joy, Millie joined her loved ones in heaven, on May 3, 2024. Millie was born in Herkimer NY, on January 16, 1934. She was the daughter of Ernest and Luella Gilbert and had two brothers, Edward and Bernard "Barney" Gilbert (all deceased). After graduating from Herkimer High School, she married the late Charles Devine and moved to Clark Place in Ilion, where she lived until 2021, when she spent the remainder of her life being cared for at the Ilion Grand Nursing Home. She had three children, Richard (deceased), Linda (Englewood FL) and Brian, (Ilion NY). She had several jobs, working as a billing clerk at Univac and as a receptionist for Duofold and Herkimer County. After retirement, Millie enjoyed time with her Grandchildren and playing cards with her friends and family.
Loved by everyone who knew her, Millie is survived by her two children; six grandchildren, Duane Merritt, Billie Joe Russell and Jason, Andrea, Brian and Dennis Devine; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and friends in the local area.
Please join us as we pass our beloved mother into eternal life. A gathering of friends and relatives will be held at the Enea & Ciaccia Family Funeral Home, at 4309 Acme Road, Ilion NY, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Saturday, May 11, 2024. A Memorial Service will commence at 4:30 p.m., at the funeral home, with Reverend Wollaber, presiding.
A gathering will be held after the funeral, at the Elks Club, in Ilion.
