1946 - 2026

Richard "Dick" T. Roberts of Syracuse, NY, passed away unexpectedly on February 20, 2026 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Dick was born in Utica, New York on April 29, 1946 to the late J. Nelson and Effie (Roberts) Roberts. The family moved to Yorkville, New York in 1955 and Dick graduated New York Mills High School in 1964. After high school he worked at Chicago Pneumatic until he enlisted in the US Air Force where he served from 1966-1969. Earning an Honorable Discharge as a Sergeant, Dick moved to Syracuse where he worked for the NYS Dept. of Transportation, Onondaga East, until his retirement. A family summer home on Fisch Creek near Oneida Lake was always a favorite spot for him and, after retirement, he became a snowbird going to Ft. Lauderdale for the winters.

Dick is survived by his sisters Sheila (Thomas) Smith, Averill Park, NY and Patricia Roberts, Bartlesville, OK; and brother Jeffrey, (Dr. Cynthia Su) Roberts. His nieces and nephews are Jennifer Sannes, Angola, NY and Stephanie (John Lauderdale) Peck, Skiatook, OK; and Andrew (Amanda Van Alstyne) Smith, Austerlitz, NY and Jeremy Roberts, Chesapeake, VA. Dick also leaves behind a great niece, great nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at the Prospect New Cemetery, Prospect, NY on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 11:00 AM.
