Robert G. Grimsley Sr.

Robert G. Grimsley, Sr. 56, of Floyd Avenue, Rome, died Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Wynn Hospital, Utica. Born in California on July 28, 1969, he was the son of Charles and Alfreda (Preston) Grimsley. Mr. Grimsley attended Camden High School. He married Betsy A. Clark in Oneida on February 14, 2012. For the past ten years, Robert was employed as a machine operator with Oneida Molded Plastics. Robert will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and unique passions. He was an avid fan of mixed martial arts, always following the sport with great enthusiasm. A dedicated knife collector, he appreciated the craftsmanship and history behind each piece in his collection. Robert also had a deep love for the outdoors, finding peace and joy in nature. Some of his happiest moments were spent gathered around a bonfire, sharing stories and laughter with those he loved. Surviving besides his wife, Betsy, and his father, Charles Grimsley, of Syracuse; are one son, Robert Grimsley, Jr. of Oneida; three daughters, Becky Grimsley, Connie Grimsley and Katrina Grimsley, of Rome; two sisters, Kimberly Grimsley of Oneida and Jess (Shane) Hull of Oneida; one brother, Rick (Ramona) Preston, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; one sister-in-law, Courtney (Gary) Klahs of Oneida; two grandchildren, Levi and Summer; nieces and nephews, Tiffany, James and Hunter Hutchinson, Brandon Hull, Keishia Carpenter and Destany, Gary and Joshus Klahs. He was predeceased by his mother, Alfreda. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 2 PM from the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., 342 Main Street, Oneida.
